Thailand is the major country in Southeast Asia. The country is officially known as the Kingdom of Thailand. Thousands of year ago, this country is also formerly known as Siam, an ancient Buddhist country.
Located at the center of the Indochinese Peninsula, Thailand neighbors with Laos to the northeast, Cambodia to the southeast, Malaysia to the south, Myanmar to the northwest. Thailand shares also maritime borders with India, Indonesia and Vietnam. The southern Thailand, which are mainly the island and beaches parts of Thailand, is between the Gulf of Thailand to the east and Andaman Sea to the west.
Thailand has two typical river system, the Chao Phraya River and the Mekong River. The former is also known as the mother river of Thailand. The latter origins from Tibetan Plateau and flows through China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, more than 2,600 miles totally.
Most of Thailand is the tropical zone, which means its weather is a typical "tropical wet and dry or savanna climate" all over the year.
